Mapping: Detroit – a City with a Bright Future

I have had the good fortune to have met and worked with Joel Makower earlier in my career. He inspired me then, and still does today.

In celebration of Earth Day 2015, we’d like to share with you one of Joel’s recent articles about Detroit, a city much beleaguered in the new millenium, but with a seemingly bright future. We encourage you to read this article: WHY MOTOWN IS POISED TO COME ROARING BACK. The city is not attempting to reinvent itself as the industrial center it once was, but rather as a “hub of innovation” as Joel describes it. A partnership is growing between the city’s new mayor, Mike Duggan, and the business community. Detroit “…is a model for how to retrofit a city as a hotbed of sustainability — economic, social and environmental.” (Source: “Two Steps Forward” from readjoel.com).
